Eddie Jackson Donates to Child’s Funeral

Former Crimson Tide safety and current Chicago Bear, Eddie Jackson has made a donation to cover funeral costs for 8-year-old Dajore Wilson. Wilson was shot and killed on Labor Day while sitting in an SUV stopped at a red light.

Jackson donated $7,500 to the family in order to purchase a glass casket for Wilson. Early Walker, the founder of "I'm Telling, Don't Shoot," said that Jackson approached him about helping the family financially get through this tragedy.

Wilson is the sixth child under 10-years-old to be fatally shot in Chicago since late June. Chicago Police Supt. David Brown revealed that the shooting was due to an ongoing fued and that Wilson was an innocent victim of the violence. Surveillance video shows that alleged shooter was driving a black Dodge Charger.

Walker announced that his anti-violence group is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the gunman.

The Chicago Bears recently announced that the franchise would support its players in social justice issues. The franchise announced it would match its players in donations to social justice causes of up to $250,000.

Jackson recently signed a four-year contract extension with the Bears worth $58 million. He has built a solid career in Chicago after being drafted in the fourth round coming off a broken leg during his senior season in Tuscaloosa.
