Derrick Henry Named “Tennessean of the Year”

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry was named "Tennessean of the Year" by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

In 2020, Henry became the eighth player in NFL history to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark. His 2,027 yards set a new Titans franchise record and are the fifth-highest rushing total ever.

He was named the 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Pro by the Associate Press. Henry also became the first running back since LaDainian Tomlinson (2006-2007) to lead the league in rushing yards in consecutive season.

Over the last two seasons, Henry has more rushing yards after contact than any other running back has total rushing yards. Since 2018, Henry leads in the NFL in rushing yards (4,626) and yards per game (98.4). Henry has recorded five career games with 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns, the most in NFL history. 

The former Heisman trophy shows no signs of slowing down as he enters his sixth season in the NFL. Henry was seen earlier this week squatting an enormous amount of weight. At 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds, Henry has made a living off of throwing grown men out of his way and running through them.

The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame also announced Alysha Clark, Ja Morant, Brady White, Joan Cronan, Anastasia Hayes, Jerry Robertson and the Tennessee Six will be honored for its Achievement Awards. The honors will be presented live on a TV special the weekend of June 26th.

The Titans are set to begin organized team activities on May 24th.
