Dangerously Cold Temps, Single Digit Wind Chills Invade Alabama
Alabamians are preparing for a winter storm that could bring snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Another factor with the passage of this incoming arctic front is the dangerously cold temperatures.
According to The Weather Channel, “frigid temperatures are headed into the U. S. as an arctic blast moves in from the north, and it is going to penetrate all the way down to the Gulf states.”
Apart from the worry of wintry conditions, another area of concern revolves around the potential for an extended duration of bitterly cold weather. A severe freeze could lead to wind chills dropping to single digits below zero.
Timing
The timing of these dangerously cold temperatures is from “Monday night through Wednesday night,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Temperature Outlook
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “temperatures will stay below freezing all day Tuesday, and will drop into the 5-15 degree range by daybreak Wednesday over the northern half of Alabama; teens are likely all the way down to the Gulf Coast. Wind chill values will likely be below zero Wednesday morning across much of North Alabama.”
