COVID-19 Cases in Tuscaloosa County Rise to 6, 131 Statewide

There are now six cases of COVID-19 coronavirus confirmed in Tuscaloosa County and 131 in the state of Alabama, according to a new report from the Alabama Department of Public Heath released Saturday afternoon.

The new report shows that the ADPH has successfully tested 1,258 total samples taken from patients who fear they have the virus. 131 have come back positive.

Problems with testing continue to slow the ADPH's efforts to properly diagnosis people statewide. More than 1,000 samples had been collected in Tuscaloosa County as of Friday afternoon, but the ADPH has only been able to successfully process 1,258 samples sent in from all of Alabama's 67 counties. Local and statewide case numbers are likely much higher than we currently know.

The disease has still not killed anyone in the state of Alabama, although the global death toll is around 13,000.
