Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox told STEVE and DC on the 953 Bear morning radio show that the Sports Illustrated /Travel & Leisure Fan Resort will be a game-changer for Tuscaloosa. He called it a year round attraction designed around many University of Alabama sports.

The SI Fan Resort will be the first resort destination for SI/Travel & Leisure. The fan resort will include a full-service hotel, condominiums, health and wellness center, fine dining, entertainment, and lots more.

This exciting development has been in the works for over a year. The project should open by late 2025. The location will be on Rice Mine Loop in Tuscaloosa, just north of the Woolsey Fennell bridge. Located not far away will be Tiger Wood’s PopStroke, offering entertainment, restaurants, bars, playgrounds, games, and more entertainment. PopStroke will be located on Harper Lee Drive and should open in November of this year.
