Bryce Young Explains Motivation for Upcoming Season
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is currently in Thibodaux, La., for the Manning Passing Academy, which goes from Thursday, June 23, 2022, to Sunday, June 26, 2022.
During the media session on Friday, Young spoke about multiple topics, including his Heisman Trophy, meeting the Mannings, and how the national championship loss to Georgia is the main motivator going into this next season.
"That's something that hurts that I feel like is really always gonna be there for us as a team this entire year- for us to be so close to our goal and obviously come short. You know, it hurts a lot. But again, I think that's something that's gonna drive us and motivate us this offseason and we're trying to correct the things we didn't feel like we did as well and to build on things we did. So that's really our approach this offseason," said Young in an interview with WHEP 92.5's A.P Steadham.
The Alabama Crimson Tide football team ended its season with a 33-18 national championship loss to Georgia, finishing last season with a 13-2 record.
Young also discussed what the focus was for this summer and the rest of the off-season.
"This summer again, it's all about us just growing as a team. The small stuff that I feel like as a team we need to improve on and be better at, making sure that's corrected as an offense, us being together, us being as efficient as an offense as possible. So for us, that's been anything that gets us closer to winning and reaching our goals. That's been what's biggest for me."
The Crimson Tide has had an active off-season, picking up some big transfers to aid in its 2022-23 Revenge Tour, including Jahmyr Gibbs from Georgia Tech, Jermaine Burton from Georgia, Eli Ricks from LSU, Tyler Harrell from Louisville, and Tyler Steen from Vanderbilt, along with Bryce Young and Will Anderson leading on each side of the ball.
Alabama will host Utah State for its first game of the college football season on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. CST on the SEC Network.
