Bama Loses Both Games In Sunday Double-Header

After losing both games of their road doubleheader against Kentucky on Sunday, Alabama Baseball moves to 24-15 on the season while sporting an 8-10 record in SEC play.

Hopes were high for the weekend trip after Bama's dominating 10-1 victory on Friday. The game remained close until a seven-run 7th inning from the Tide completely deflated the Wildcats. On the victory, coach Brad Bohannon said, "It always starts on the mound. Tyler Ras was just outstanding and then Hunter Ruth was exciting for two really quality innings there in relief. Those guys did a great job throwing nine innings, allowing no walks, using multiple pitches and moving the ball around the strike zone well."

The second of three games was pushed to Sunday after storms were threatening the greater Lexington, Kentucky area. Alabama struggled to get runs on the board against Kentucky's RHP Sean Harney, who managed to deal a 6.0 inning game and only gave up Bama's two runs in his last inning of work. Despite the offensive struggles, junior catcher Sam Praytor moved his hitting streak to seven games; however, the offense just showed up too late for the Tide as Kentucky tied up the series with a 5-2 victory in the first half of the doubleheader.

Bats were missing again for Alabama as they fell in the final game by a score of 11-0. "The Tide's coming apart like a $3 suitcase," Chris Stewert, Learfield IMG College, said after the second home run in the 5th inning, putting Bama behind 8-0. The only hit Bama secured came from a William Hamiter single into right field in the first inning. Kentucky's Zack Lee threw a complete game of 7.0 innings with six strikeouts, one hit, and no earned runs.

On Tuesday, Alabama will take on UAB at Regions Field in Birmingham at 6:00 PM. The Tide returns to Tuscaloosa for a three-game weekend series with the Missouri Tigers. Game one against Mizzou is scheduled for Friday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m..
