
West Alabama Faces Early Sunday Severe Storms + Tornado Threat
The Townsquare Media Weather Center has been closely monitoring conditions for the Alabama vs Tennessee game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, which has a 6:30 p.m. kickoff, and the potential for strong to severe storms early Sunday morning.
Gameday Outlook
The current forecast is showing cloudy conditions for most of gameday Saturday, with any showers or thunderstorms holding off in Tuscaloosa until afternoon or Midnight.
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said there is “just a small risk of a shower during the game... temperatures will fall through the 70s. It will be breezy with a south wind averaging 10-20 mph.”

Early Sunday Morning Threats
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that the main threats will be "damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and a brief tornado or two."
“With only modest instability and weakening dynamics, the overall severe weather threat is not especially high,” said Spann. “But, there could be a few storms with strong, gusty winds over the western half of the state. The chance of a brief, isolated tornado is low, but not zero.”
