Alabama Picks up Fourth Straight Win, Dominates Memphis 71-44
The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Memphis Tigers 71-44, picking up its fourth straight win of the season.
The Tide came into the game with a 5-2 record, coming off an impressive 89-45 win over Bethune-Cookman. Memphis entered the game with a 6-1 record, coming off a thrilling overtime win over Pennsylvania.
Another balanced effort led to the Tide victory.
Alabama got off to a strong start, hitting three three-pointers early to give the Tide a 25-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Crimson Tide defense completely dominated in the second quarter, only allowing five points by the Tigers. The Tide took a 43-18 lead into the half. Alabama continued to play lights out throughout the rest of the game, leading to the 71-44 victory.
“It’s just great to see the balance,” said Alabama head coach Kristy Curry. “I feel like the staff [and] the players have brought great energy and we talk about just staying together and staying consistent.”
Megan Abrams and Brittany Davis led the Tide in scoring with 14 points each. Two other Tide players scored in double-digits including Hannah Barber (13) and Jada Rice (13). Rice added 11 rebounds, picking up the first double-double of her career.
Memphis was led in scoring by Taylor Frierson with 10 points. The 44 overall points scored by Memphis are the lowest the Tigers have scored all season.
Alabama shot 46% from the field while Memphis shot 30.4% from the field. The Tide outrebounded the Tigers 44-34.
