Alabama Named Sixth Worst State In America
Here we go again.
Alabama was named to some new list and is again on the wrong end of the rankings.
This one is a bit more disturbing because it was done by a legitimate research group.
The ranking comes from the new US News & World Report's "Best States In The USA" list.
The factors considered to put the list together include crime, economy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and overall opportunity.
Are we really that bad?
Come on man.
First, let's look at the states that were on top and did the best.
5. IDAHO
Potatoes. That's it. The only thing that comes to mind.
4. MINNESOTA
The accent is what I think of in relation to Minnesota.
And, they want a glass of POP.
Whatever.
3. NEBRASKA
Football and corn. Goodnight.
2. NEW HAMPSHIRE
Presidential primary every four years.
That's all I got.
AND, NOW, NUMBER ONE...
1. UTAH
Mormons and jazz. The basketball team. But mainly the Mormons.
Those are the best states in AMERICA???
OK, if you say so.
So, now a look at the worst states according to the study.
50. LOUISIANA
Lots of crime and a bad economy.
49. NEW MEXICO
I don't know much about this state but it ranks low.
48. MISSISSIPPI
There they are! They usually keep us off the bottom and I appreciate that very much.
47. ARKANSAS
Well, it's Arkansas.
46. WEST VIRGINIA
Nick Saban is the only bright spot that comes to mind.
45. ALASKA
Alaska did worse than us?
I did not see that coming.
And at 46. ALABAMA
That's us way in the back of the line.
Look closer at these numbers...
37% are college educated.
Median Income is $36,953
CRIME: 28th (not bad, middle of the pack)
ECONOMY: 32 (also not the worst)
EDUCATION: 45 (this one always drags us down)
HEALTHCARE: 44 (also drags us down)
NATURAL ENVIRONMENT: 47 (what??? we have a wonderful environment and a great outdoors love like no other state!)
So, I don't understand the bottom-of-the-barrel result for our great state of Alabama.
I do know that I'm tired of rankings like this one.
