On Friday afternoon, Alabama baseball won their chilly Opening Day game, 10-6, against the McNeese State Cowboys giving sophomore LHP Connor Prielipp his first win on the 2021 season.

After the offensive showcase, head coach Brad Bohannon said, "Really thought we played well all things considered. Obviously, Connor Prielipp was outstanding for us and we scored 10 runs, we scored in four different innings and the five spot in the seventh was huge."

The Crimson Tide's ace starter Prielipp went five innings with eight strikeouts, giving up just four hits. All six of McNeese's runs came from junior RHP Tyler Ras despite picking up two strikeouts in his three innings pitched. The sophomore Alabama native, LHP Brock Guffey, came in to close the game for the Tide in the ninth inning and dominated by striking out two of the four McNeese batters he faced.

Alabama's offense, however, looked like it hadn't skipped a beat since 2020. Junior 1B Drew Williamson went three for four on the afternoon, including three RBI's. The redshirt-junior catcher Sam Praytor and sophomore second basemen Peyton Wilson, both managed to send a ball over the fence - accounting for six of the Tide's 10 total runs.

The McNeese State Cowboys kept fighting themselves back into the game with their offense, but stranding seven baserunners and striking out 12 times as a team prevented them from ever getting the lead.
