Alabama baseball outfielder Owen Diodati was honored as the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Player of the Week this week. Diodati, also referred to as Dio, is currently playing in the collegiate baseball summer league with the Wareham Gatemen based in Wareham, Massachusetts. Dio was selected out of 10 teams the CCBL currently represents.
The Alabama Crimson Tide, competing in the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2016, faced a must-win situation today in Hoover, AL. The Crimson Tide rose to the challenge by defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks by a score of 9-3 in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
Alabama walks it off against Auburn on Owen Diodati’s RBI single in the 10th inning. Coach Brad Bohannon told Diodati to “just breathe” before the at-bat and he listened, bringing home Zane Denton to walk it off.
