This past Saturday, Reida made the announcement through his social media along with changing his bio to include his new position.

Reida has prior experience with the Crimson Tide baseball team, working as a volunteer from 2018-20 before being hired as an offensive coach and recruiter at Pittsburgh. He even has a long-standing relationship with the Tide's head coach Brad Bohannon. Reida played under coach Bohannon at Kentucky from 2011-2014.

"I've known Matt since he was 16, and I'm very confident that the grit and competitiveness that he's shown on the field as a player will translate over into his coaching career," Bohannon says.

Reida started four straight years in the middle infield, making the 2012 Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award watch list. He also has one year of experience in the major leagues, playing for the Rays organization before starting his coaching career at Indiana and Xavier.
