Tuscaloosa Principal Earns Major Statewide Recognition
There are plenty of professionals doing great things in West Alabama. The educators in West Alabama are especially making great strides in their field and receiving huge honors as well.
It's recently been announced that a Tuscaloosa City Schools Principal was selected to represent their district with a state wide organization here in Alabama.

The Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators is an organization whose mission is to advocate for children while striving to enhance effectiveness in the supervision and administration of students in the state. Specifically middle and elementary school students.
Woodland Forrest Elementary Principal Teresa Croom Bivens has been selected to represent District III through the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators.
"I am truly honored and excited to represent District III," Bivens said.
"This role gives me the opportunity to connect with other leaders who share the same passion for supporting students and educators."
Within the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, there are twelve affiliates, and the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators serves ten districts across the state. Each district has a president and a representative who are nominated and elected by CLAS members.
"As a teacher, I first learned about CLAS when my principal at the time, Dr. Autumm Jeter, served as president of the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators, Bivens said when speaking on her selection to be District III representative.
"When I became an administrator, she always encouraged me to get involved and reminded me that CLAS would open doors to learning more about how to grow education across our state."
Bivens will represent District III, which includes Fayette County, Greene County, Hale County, Jasper City, Lamar County, Marion County, Pickens County, Sumter County, Tuscaloosa City, Tuscaloosa County, Walker County, and Winfield City.
As the District III representative, she will attend the 2025 AAESA Fall Instructional Leadership Conference to learn more about statewide initiatives and to vote on behalf of her district’s CLAS members.
"Being part of CLAS is such a meaningful opportunity to continue learning, growing, and serving Alabama’s schools."
