West Alabama Tuesday Briefing
Good Tuesday morning West Alabama! It is September 17, 2024.
A thin layer of clouds and a lot of sun are greeting us this morning as we look forward to a week of mostly sunny skies and seasonal temperatures. There is a small chance of light rain from Demopolis southward, but that rain will be mainly sprinkles, if any.
There is also more good news from the Alabama Forestry Commission. The wildfire count is down to five statewide with two of them are here in West Alabama. That is a 20-acre blaze east of Whitfield in extreme southeastern Sumter County. The other is a small wildfire in eastern Walker County.
Tropically there is further good news as there is only one tropical formation in the Atlantic. That is Tropical Depression Gordon in the Central Atlantic, and computer models show it moving northward and moving into the North Atlantic as a tropical storm before disappearing.
However, as a caution, formation can happen anywhere, at any time, in the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico, so let's not get too overly confident.
