
Weather Alert: Portions of Alabama Under a Damaging Wind and Hail Threat
Severe storms are expected across parts of Alabama tonight into early Monday. Our guide provides details on the timeline, risk areas, and threats.
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is tracking a significant weather system spanning from the Ozarks to the Deep South, ensuring you stay ahead of the storm.
We are closely monitoring for any changes to our west as a “tornado or two cannot be ruled out, especially in central Mississippi,” said The Weather Channel.
Alabama Outlook
Timing
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said, “Clusters of strong to severe storms will move into northwestern Alabama on Sunday night.”
The overall threat timeline is between Sunday at 8 p.m. and Monday at 4 a.m.

Threat Areas
The Storm Prediction Center has some northwest counties under a “slight risk” while others are under a “marginal risk.”

Fayette: Most of the county is at “Slight Risk,” and the rest is at “Marginal Risk.”
Greene: Under a “Marginal Risk.”

Pickens: Under a “Marginal Risk.”
Sumter: Under a “Marginal Risk.”
Tuscaloosa: Under a “Marginal Risk.”
Walker: The county is split between “Slight Risk” and “Marginal Risk.”
Threats
“Some of these storms could produce isolated damaging winds and large hail,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Instability values will be very limited, and the best dynamic support will be to the north. But, a few storms could produce some hail and strong gusty winds. The tornado risk is very low, but not zero.”
