Two people were shot early Sunday morning as they left a late-night party at Campus Evolution Apartments on 31st Street, police reported Monday morning.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victims, who are both 22-year-old men, were at the party Saturday night and were leaving the complex around 3 a.m. Sunday when shots rang out.

One victim was shot in the abdomen and the other was struck in his leg. Both were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment of wounds Hart said were not life-threatening.

As of Monday morning, investigators do not know who shot at the men or why, but they have collected forensic evidence including several shell casings from the crime scene.
