Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox Says He’s Running Again in 2029
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox told the 953 Bear Steve & DC Morning Show that he’s planning to seek re-election in 2029. Maddox has been mayor for 6 terms.
The mayor discussed working closely with the Sabans on the Saban Center project. He reinforced what we already knew about Miss Terry. She’s extremely smart and laser-focused.
The mayor reiterated the need for a public safety director. He denied the claim of critics that he would hire a friend. The hire must be qualified according to the mayor. The position will command a six-figure salary and a city car.
Maddox detailed the plans for the Chief Tushkalusa 22-foot statue. He also detailed the cost of the project.
The mayor had a one-word response when asked if he’s sending Sunshine on City Hall a Christmas card this year. He quickly said “no”. Sunshine on City Hall regularly makes online negative comments about the mayor. The keyboard warrior is anonymous.
Mayor Maddox was challenged to video and share himself ice skating at Holidays On The Plaza. He refused to accept the Steve & DC challenge, saying “the city’s workman's comp benefits are not enough”.
The mayor confirmed that skydiving is on his bucket list, but added No time soon.
