Tuscaloosa Flu Numbers Decline

Influenza cases reported in Tuscaloosa hospitals continue to decrease falling roughly 24 percent from 2 weeks ago.  DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center each reported 93 positive cases totaling186 positive cases out of 819 tests.

The highest weekly total of positive cases was the 2 weeks ago at 272 positive cases in Tuscaloosa area hospitals.  According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, there have been five confirmed influenza-associated adult and pediatric deaths in the state during this flu season and 98 deaths are being investigated as possibly associated with the virus, including 13 in the West Alabama area.
