Tipping is Out of Control

I have "sticker shock."

I got an oil change this week, and on the credit card swiper thing-a-ma-jig there was a place to ADD A TIP?

A tip for an oil change?

This has become a big issue for me.

I WILL NOT BE TIP SHAMED! Ever since the pandemic, we have been expected to subsidize cheap owners/bad faith employees -- PROLLY BOTH!

During lockdown, only a few essential workers had to hoof it out to work -- while the rest of us stayed home and "Netflixed and chunked out." 

We were ONLY-TOO-HAPPY to tip.

I mean - we all thought we were goners at some point - so dropping an extra couple in the hand of Suzi at Micky D's was no biggie.

Plus we had our stimmies and had a few extra to spare.

Flash forward to 2022: the pandemic is over, we all went back to work. (Audio Bob started showering again and Steve went back to the CHEAP CIGARS.)

But then, it all ended - and we had to go back to work. But, now, everyone in retail askes for a tip.

It's TIP SHAMING! Why do we feel the need to subsidize everyone? I totally get that restaurant servers work under a different set of rules - I GET IT.

But, why am I being asked to tip my Subway sandwich artists?

Didn't yall get a raise to $15/hour or something? 

And there is a place on the credit card swiper to... TIP MY DOG GROOMER??

I first learned the meaning of TIP from the Steve and DC show in St. Louis. They had a guy on who explained that "TIP" was an acronym for "to insure promptness."

If you tip beforehand, what reason do they have to hustle? 

And the answer is: THEY DON'T.

But, we are still expected to UNDERWRITE REGUALR WORKERS POOR PAYING GIGS. 

Because of COVID-19, I guess.

Here's a tip: Stop tip shaming me.

Get a better paying gig - It's not my fault you don't think you make enough.

But when the cashier at the Chevron has a tip jar, but no "need-a-penny-take-a-penny" jar anymore... 

GIMME A BREAK!

That's my tip. Just the tip.
