It appears timber rattlesnakes are slithering around more than usual. According to Houston County Snake Removal and Relocation, this occurs in the late summer and early fall months.

One of the timber rattlers' favorite places to hide is inside kids' toys left outside. Okay, now we are putting fear in the hearts of moms and dads.

Parents are advised always to examine their children’s toys for snakes. A recent case featured a big rattler hiding underneath a child’s toy push car.

The snakes are also fond of hiding inside pool toys. Another recent case revealed a timber rattlesnake hiding in a swimming pool noodle toy.

Before turning your kids loose to play in the backyard, it is a good idea to examine any yard toys and certainly pool toys left outside.

Remember, the timber rattlers and other unwanted critters are on the move in the late summer, early fall months.
