This week's game is the first of three championship matchups with the Georgia Bulldogs. The winner was sure to go to Miami to play in the national title game.

The Crimson Tide took a three point lead into halftime but allowed a blocked field goal to find itself down by 11 points with a quarter and a half to play. The defending champions knew just what to do.

Alabama's rushing attack of Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon went to work and scored twice to put the Tide back on top of the ballgame. Lacy rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the game, Yeldon ran for 153 yards and had a touchdown of his own. It was the first time in SEC Championship Game history that one school produced two 100-yard rushers in the game.

Georgia recaptured the lead with a Todd Gurley touchdown run but the Bulldogs could not hold on. The senior quarterback A.J. McCarron ended up finding Amari Cooper for a 44-yard touchdown for the last score of the game.
