
Temps Plunge to 29: Freeze Warning Issued for Portions of Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Freeze Warning” starting Wednesday, April 9 at 1 a.m. lasting until 9 a.m.
Residents can expect temperatures from 29 to 32 degrees.
Risk Areas
The “Freeze Warning” impacts the following Townsquare Media Coverage Area counties:
Fayette
Lamar
Walker
Other counties included in the watch are Blount, Cherokee, Cleburne, Clay, Etowah, Jefferson, Marion, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, and Winston.
Possible Impacts
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Action Steps Recommended by the NWS
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Those that have in ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
