Severe Weather to Bring Tornadoes and Damaging Winds to Alabama
The Townsquare Media Weather Center has been monitoring the possibility for severe weather in our area for several days, tracking each new development.
Over the next few days, the storm system will impact several states, including Alabama, and continue eastward.

The current outlook on the speed of this storm system is that it will be quick-paced as it enters, moves across Alabama, and exits.
The timing for the overall threat is between 7 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Risk Areas
The Storm Prediction Center continues to indicate a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the entire Townsquare Media Coverage area and much of the state.
Threats
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said the main threats are “damaging straight-line winds up to 60 mph and a few, brief tornadoes.”
Key Messages from James Spann
There will be very little surface-based instability ahead of the line, limiting the overall magnitude of the event, said James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist. “A brief, isolated tornado is possible within the line but isn't likely.”
Spann said, "Wind fields will be impressive with a tight pressure gradient. Ahead of the line, gradient winds (non-thunderstorm) could gust to 40 mph. With the line itself, convective winds could be high enough in spots to bring down some trees and power lines.”

Prepare
Information and impacts could change as this system moves closer to Alabama and conditions develop. Be sure to stay updated on new weather information.
Also, I encourage you to make sure you know your safe place, the county you live in (including what section), and your nearby counties.
