Seattle Mariners Add Former Alabama Ace to the Staff

The MLB's Seattle Mariners has a new face on their pitching staff. It was announced this week that they've signed former weekend starter Jacob McNairy to his first big league contract.

McNairy was actually selected by the Mariners in the 2022 Major League Draft, but decided to return to the Capstone for his final season on the hill for the Tide. McNairy was awarded the most starts for Alabama in 2023 with 17.

McNairy finished the 2023 season 7-3 and was tied for the most victories on the team. He had a fantastic showing during the regional tournament against Boston College, only walking three and striking out 11 batters.

McNairy wasn’t the only one to sign a major league contract. Several of his teammates were either drafted or signed with a big-league team in 2023. The San Fransisco Giants drafted Bryce Eldridge and the Washington Nationals also drafted Andrew Pinckney.
