The winds have picked up in intensity across West Alabama. Remember that there is a WIND ADVISORY for all Alabama counties.

James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Gradient winds (not related to thunderstorms) will ramp up this afternoon and early tonight, gusting to 45 mph at times.”

Currently, a good portion of Mississippi is under a Tornado Watch. We are closely monitoring conditions and how this severe weather system tracks closer to Alabama.

New Information - Risk Area Outlook

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a "slight risk" (level 2 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms for a large portion of the state and an "enhanced risk" (level 3 out of 5) for the southwestern counties.

Possible Threats

The primary concern with this system is the potential for strong straight-line winds, which could cause scattered damage by toppling trees and power lines. Additionally, there is a chance of a few isolated tornadoes, particularly in the southwest of Alabama.
