The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating reports that a man struck a volunteer at the West Alabama Women's Clinic with his SUV early Tuesday morning and drove away.

Witnesses took to social media and said the driver, a white man in a dark Toyota SUV, has threatened to hit volunteers with his car before, and Tuesday morning he struck someone with his side mirror and the side of his car before leaving the scene.

A Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman said officers were called to the clinic on Jack Warner Parkway around 8:15 Tuesday morning and took a report from the victim and witnesses there.

Lt. Teena Richardson said the case has been turned over to TPD's hit-and-run investigators, who are working to track down the driver and determine what, if anything, happened Tuesday morning.

The victim only reported suffering minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital, Richardson said.
