The Northside Rams (3-0) flexed its muscles again in a dominant rushing performance at home over the Oak Grove Tigers (1-1) 28-7 on Friday night, claiming its third win of the season. Northside has not lost to Oak Grove since 2007.

"We started out flat trying to do stuff different," said Jones. "I didn't like how we came out, we can't beat good teams doing that, but then at halftime we made some adjustments, I challenged them, and we came out and did what Northside is supposed to do," said Northside head coach Robbie Jones.

Choosing to receive the ball first, Oak Grove started the game out with a bang, with senior quarterback Riley Harmon passing it to senior wide receiver Kaden Scoggins for a 49-yard reception on the first play of the game. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the team was not able to get another first down on the drive and were stopped on fourth-and-one at the Rams 23-yard line, turning the ball over on downs.

The rest of the first quarter resulted with no points being put up by either team, with Northside having possession for 12 plays before punting it back to Oak Grove, and the quarter ending soon after that.

As a result of receiving good starting field position at the Tigers' 48-yard line on its first possession of the second quarter, the Rams scored the first points of the game by way of a 22-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Braden Green to senior wide receiver Jayden Roberts.

A couple of possessions later, the Tigers would also take advantage of having good field positioning at the 50-yard line by scoring its own touchdown with 23 seconds left in the first half, courtesy of a one-yard rush from junior running back Collin Pate. The game ended up tied going into halftime.

Northside only threw the ball one time in the whole second half, which ended up being their second touchdown pass from Green to junior tight end Devin Guin for 35 yards.

After forcing the Tigers to fumble on their first possession of the second half, the Rams started with the ball in enemy territory and punched it in the end zone just six rushing plays later, with Green going for the six-yard quarterback run, scoring his third total touchdown of the night.

The Rams last touchdown just further showed how they slowly but surely dominated the Tigers with the run game. Northside handed the ball off to freshman running back Isaiah Turner every play on its final touchdown drive, resulting in him getting a total of 42 rushing yards in that one drive alone, which includes his five-yard touchdown.

"That's what this program was built on, the Double Wing and the Gun Wing," said Jones about his team's rushing performance. "Sometimes you got to hang your hat on what you know and that's what we stuck with, and we're just going to live with that until we get better at throwing the ball."

While the game might have gotten away from Oak Grove in the second half, Jones still has a lot of respect for them and their performance.

"I've known a lot of people at Oak Grove and it's a great place, with great people, and a great community, and I have all the respect in the world for the people over there. They're just like us."

Northside will look to get its fourth straight win of the season next week on the road against Curry.

Oak Grove will look to bounce back from its loss at home against Hamilton next week.
