Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon will have back surgery Monday morning.

The mayor told the 953 Bear Steve Shannon Morning Show that he would have surgery to repair his L2 and L3 discs.

Herndon praised doctors and nurses at DCH for the care he has received in the past.

The mayor said he will be back in action soon after his surgery.
