For Pickens County residents looking to further enhance their careers or to receive education for one of many trades, the Pickens County Family Resource Center is assisting with enrollment at Shelton State Community College.

The organization is described as follows:

The Pickens County Family Resource Center, established in July, 2000 as a 501 (c) 3 organization, believes strongly that all families deserves to live in a community that protects and supports them through policies and programs that ensure the greatest possible cognitive, emotional, social and physicals achievement. It is the mission of the Pickens County Family Resource Center (PCFRC) to empower families to become self-sufficient and able to meet the needs of their family members. The agency supports the premise that this effort can be best accomplished through a coordinated, comprehensive, accessible and focused support system based on family concerns, priorities, and resources that build the strengths of the family. Successful projects being conducted by PCFRC include after-school programs for children at-risk for school failure, Fatherhood Initiative grant and Senior Citizens Nutrition and Activity Center Program.
