FBI Academy & SWAT Vet: Meet The New Tuscaloosa Police Chief
Tuscaloosa’s 10th police chief will be sworn in on Monday. He was chosen from over 23 candidates.
He is Michael Baygents.
The Tuscaloosa native is a Central High graduate.
Chief Baygents graduated from the FBI Academy and has served on the SWAT team for the TPD. In fact, he’s been a Tuscaloosa police officer for years. And now he is the new Chief of Police. We believe Baygents was a great choice.
Chief Baygents confessed he’s listened to the Steve & DC Morning Show for many years. He sat down for an in-studio interview on 953 The Bear.
The fun interview featured local high school memories, how to tell if a suspect is lying, priorities as chief, and a few Steve & DC surprises.
Chief Baygents discussed managing large Tuscaloosa events like A-Day, GameDays, & concerts like the recent Morgan Wallen concert at Bryant Denny. The chief hinted that we might be seeing concerts again at Coleman Coliseum in the future.
The chief is married to Amy Baygents. They have 4 children & 5 grandchildren.
