Today is National Hamburger Day. The burger was invented in New Haven, Connecticut in 1900.

We Americans eat 50 billion burgers a year.

We eat, on average, three hamburgers a week.

McDonald’s sells 75 hamburgers every second! What?! No wonder we Americans are on the fluffy side.

Almost two-thirds of all sandwiches sold are hamburgers.

I usually prefer a big, juicy burger charcoal grilled in the backyard.
I like mine with lettuce and tomato, big kosher pickle, and french fried potatoes. Props to Jimmy Buffet.

Steve & DC 953 Bear radio listeners crowned The Oasis in Cottondale with the best burger title. Oasis is often named the best burger. A close second was Avenue Pub’s hamburger. An honorable mention went to Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint in Tuscaloosa.

Celebrate this National Hamburger Day with your favorite big, juicy one.
