This past December, I learned the devastating news that I would be required to undergo surgery shoulder to address a SLAP tear repair.

The prognosis for my recovery was pretty depressing, I had to wear a sling 24/7 for the first two weeks before I could  wean myself out of it. The total time doctors allowed before I'd returned to something resembling 'normal' was about 3 solid months.

I had so much going on at the time-home repairs, Christmas shopping, etc. and really didn't have time for a long recovery so I took the news pretty hard. From the moment I got the news, I was obsessed with getting released from Dr. Atkin's so I could go on about the business of living.

Thanks to my trainer, my recovery was much shorter and the PT exercises were a breeze because Josh Curtman implemented 'Pre-hab' work-outs the minute he heard. He focused on strengthening the muscles around the joint and his approach worked. At my first physical therapy examination, I'd almost regained full range of motion.

Now, four months out, recovery continues, but I'm doing what I need to do without too much trouble. Looking back over the short videos Perry took as I came out of recovery, it struck me that I look like an inebriated Desmond Miles from 'Assassins Creed'.

I'd gone all day without eating so obviously, I was hungry...

I got that burger, btw.
