ALEA has released more information about that mass fatality crash on I20/59 on July 5th in Greene County. The head-on collision near Eutaw included children 6 and 8 who were not identified due to their age.

The two drivers, 45-year-old Stephen Keele of Mississippi was driving a Ram 1500 pickup and the other driver, 36-year-old Tejaswini R. Cholleti was driving a Toyota Sienna. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Also killed in the fiery crash was Sri V. Bejugam, a 40 year-old passenger in the Toyota being driven by Cholleti.

The victims accounted for five of the 12 long Independence Day weekend travel deaths on Alabama highways. That was three more fatalities on state roadways than the 2024 holiday.

The accident is still under investigation by the state.
