Luke Combs Is Ready to Reflect Over the Holidays
Luke Combs has spent the last two years in a whirlwind: The singer-songwriter signed a deal with Sony Music Nashville in 2016 and, since then, has released his debut album, This One's for You, notched four No. 1 songs on country radio and done a whole lot of touring.
His career has been on a steady climb that shows no sign of stopping soon, either; in fact, he just won New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards in November. And his personal life is rolling onward as well, as he recently announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Nicole.
"It’s still really surreal to me. It’s all happening really, really fast, which is a good thing," Combs told The Boot while walking the red carpet at the 2018 BMI Country Awards, where he and co-writer Ray Fulcher won two awards for his single "When It Rains It Pours." "I’m totally fine with that, but I haven’t had a lot of time to drink it in and appreciate all the things that not only me, but me and my friends, have gotten to do over the last couple of years. I’m looking forward to doing that over the holidays."
Combs has been non-stop touring in 2018, but he'll have time off between concert dates -- which conclude on Dec. 14 and begin again on Jan. 26 -- to take it all in. And then, he'll embark on the Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour.
"I’m looking forward to recording some stuff in January," Combs says. "I’ve got a bunch of songs in the hole already and [want to] get some more stuff out there. So just keep moving forward, I think, is the plan."
Combs recently announced via Instagram a series of outdoor concerts with Cody Johnson and Fulcher, and he will play at the Stagecoach festival in 2019 as well. He recently told The Boot that he has 20 songs' worth of new material recorded for his next project.
