Lindsay Ell Says Country Music’s Women Are Creating a ‘Positive Environment’ for Each Other
Lindsay Ell says it's a good time to be a woman in country music. The 28-year-old, whose recent album, The Project, landed at the top of the charts, finds a feeling of community among female artists, and thinks things are finally on an upswing for all of them.
"I really feel like, as women in Nashville, we are supporting each other," Ell shared with The Boot and other journalists at a recent media event. "We want to raise each other up, which, very often, you won’t find a group of girls -- a group of girl artists specifically -- where that happens. I really feel like, in Nashville, we want each other to win. It’s such a positive environment, and I’m really happy to be a part of it."
In 2018, Ell is serving as an opening act for Brad Paisley on his Weekend Warrior Tour. The trek began last year.
"I’ve had so many incredible shows," Ell shares of her time with Paisley. "As a fellow guitar player, to open for Brad, it’s just been so inspiring to me ... I knew the tour was going to be cool, but I had no idea it was going to affect me the way it did.
"Brad is such an even better guitar player in person than listening to all of his records and watching his music videos. He has such a precision to detail, of every little aspect of his show," she continues. "Not only are his guitar solos perfect, but he has music videos going on behind. As the band is playing his songs, he has music videos going on. He tries to make every little aspect of his show as entertaining as it can be for his fans."
Ell will hit the road with another guitar player extraordinaire later this year, when she opens for Keith Urban on his Graffiti U World Tour in her native Canada. A list of all of Ell's upcoming shows is available on her website.
