Lady Antebellum Add Original Song to SpongeBob Squarepants Musical
Lady Antebellum are going under the sea -- in musical form, that is. The country trio have contributed a song to the new Broadway show, The SpongeBob Musical, set to open at the Palace Theatre in New York on Dec. 4.
Lady A wrote an original song titled "Chop to the Top" that appears during a scene when SpongeBob and Sandy are climbing a mountain. The musical stars SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick and other character favorites from the show, as their home of Bikini Bottom faces grave danger, but will potentially be saved by an unlikely hero.
Several other major music acts will also have original songs featured in the production including Steven Tyler, who released his first country album We're All Somebody From Somewhere in 2016, singer-songwriter and Waitress star Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco and even one from the late David Bowie.
Lady Antebellum also appeared on the soundtrack for the 2017 Dirty Dancing remake singing a track called “Hey Baby," in addition to contributing a song, “Lay Our Flowers Down,” to the film The Shack that featured Tim McGraw in a small role. Hot off the release of their new album, Heart Break, Lady A's Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood continue on the 2017 You Look Good World Tour with Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young, which crosses the U.S., Canada and even South Africa throughout the year.
