We’ve heard about killer bees invading America for years. Well, they have arrived. A swarm of Africanized honeybees was recently discovered in Barbour County, Alabama.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is on high alert for these bees in our state. And they quickly euthanize the bees when found.

The ADAI uses traps to detect these “killer bees” in other Alabama locations.

The ‘killer bees” are very aggressive and fly in large numbers when agitated. This is called swarming.

If you come in contact with what you suspect is an Africanized killer honeybee, contact the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.
