#LetTheGirlsPlay Artist Kasey Tyndall Signs Publishing Deal
Tyndall was Taste of Country’s featured artist in April 2016. The eastern North Carolina native has since landed writing appointments with high-profile songwriters including Neil Mason (the Cadillac Three) and Driver Williams, from Eric Church’s band. "Home Alone Tonight" writer Tommy Cecil agreed to produce her first single “Everything Is Texas” after working with her.
Doug Johnson (“Three Wooden Crosses,” “Love Like Crazy,” “Skin”) is another she’s sat down with, although she didn’t know it at the time. At the time she was just a wide-eyed newcomer in her first co-write. The other writer in the room was Nick Autry.
“Mr. Doug had to step out for a minute, and Nick’s like, ‘Do you know who that is?’” she said. “I was so nervous after that.”
The rock-inspired country singer is a regular at the Monday night #LetTheGirlsPlay writing rounds, presented by Song Suffragettes. The all-female acoustic show spotlights talented newcomers in country music while creating a safe space for women to share their ideas and music. Kalie Shorr is another from the group to sign a publishing deal. October’s #LetTheGirlsPlay artist Anna Vaus landed a few shows opening for Brandy Clark when the “Girl Next Door” singer saw her talking about her influences.
Taste of Country is a proud supporter of the #LetTheGirlsPlay movement, started to celebrate women in country music at a time when obstacles seem to be mounting. The weekly Song Suffragettes shows happen at the Listening Room in Nashville at 6PM.
