Marshall said Green worked at the facility for 18 years, and the Alabama Department of Public Health had asked the Attorney General to look into the matter through the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Marshall said the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is primarily funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.

"The investigation determined that, between January 2023 and September 2025, Green stole at least $3,500 from 25 residents," Marshall wrote. "Green is charged with one count of Theft of Property First Degree, a class B felony punishable by 2 to 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $30,000. Green surrendered at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on February 23rd and was released on a $5,000 bond."
