Missing Child Returns Home in Northport Before Search Ramps Up
If you got a message about a missing child in Northport delivered straight to your phone today, the juvenile is back home safely, police told the Thread.
A search was ramping up in Northport after a child was reported missing in the Vestavia community late Tuesday morning.

The child was seen around 11:45, then reported missing, but has since returned home, and the search is off. Assets including aerial drones were being deployed to the area but are no longer necessary.
A spokesperson for the Northport Police Department said the alert sent via the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, or IPAWS, was not meant to hit all phones in the area but was inadvertently sent that way, triggering alerts on cellular devices across the region in a broader area than intended.
There is no longer an ongoing search, and the juvenile involved has returned to their family.
