Alabama Students May Be Missing Out on This College Grant
As college bills continue to climb, Alabama families looking for additional financial assistance may want to take a closer look at a little known state program that could help cover educational expenses.
The Alabama Student Grant Program provides financial assistance to eligible students attending select private colleges and universities across the state. Unlike many financial aid programs, this grant is not based on financial need, meaning students from a variety of income levels may qualify. According to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, grant awards vary each year based on available funding but can be worth up to $3,000 annually.

Students interested in applying should contact the financial aid office at their college as soon as possible and request an Alabama Student Grant Program application. Applications are submitted through participating institutions, and deadlines vary.
Participating schools include:
* Amridge University
* Faulkner University
* Huntingdon College
* Miles College
* Oakwood University
* Samford University
* Spring Hill College
* South University Montgomery
* Stillman College
* U.S. Sports Academy
* University of Mobile
According to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, students must attend one of the participating institutions to be eligible for the grant.
For families with students enrolled at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa or any of the other participating schools, this could be an opportunity to reduce out-of-pocket college costs before the upcoming academic year.
Additional information and applications are available through the Alabama Commission on Higher Education and participating financial aid offices.
