Tuscaloosa’s One Place Explores Future of Foster Care in Virtual Training

Tuscaloosa’s One Place invites community members to a free virtual training, "Continuing the Conversation: Making a Difference for Alabama's Children and Families," presented by The University of Alabama's Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning division. The virtual training will be held on Wednesday, September 16, from 9 a.m. until Noon.

Designed to support meaningful dialogue, the virtual event will connect child welfare professionals, foster and adoptive parents, former foster youth, educators, and community leaders to explore ways to strengthen families and create better outcomes for children across Alabama.

“Tuscaloosa's One Place encourages parents, educators, and community advocates to attend and join the conversation,” said the press release. “The event is designed for anyone interested in supporting children and families and creating stronger communities.

Discussions will also examine the challenges children in foster care face while exploring meaningful ways communities can promote permanency, strengthen families, and positively impact the lives of children and families throughout Alabama.

"Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive, and it truly takes a community coming together to make that possible," said Antoinette Ferguson, director of Healthy Families at Tuscaloosa's One Place. "This training will give us greater understanding and inspiration to continue walking alongside our families at Tuscaloosa's One Place, helping them overcome challenges and build brighter futures for their children."
