Kimbrough, a Birmingham native, began her artistic journey at the Alabama School of Fine Arts and graduated from its Visual Arts department in 2024. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at The University of Alabama through New College’s interdisciplinary studies program, where she combines human biology, public art and studio art practices with a minor in Art History.

According to the press release, “This exhibition was created fulfilling partial requirements of a New College Thesis presentation. Using recycled and rescued paper scraps, sanded and layered with plexiglass etchings, screenprints, and monotype prints, the display is a collection of memories held within the suspense of place. Each memory is assigned to its own form inspired by elements from those memories or places. Forms such as a tree branch arching outward, a crumbling archway, or reaching, expanding kudzu are created by taking paper scraps from studios around Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, combining the paper, sanding away at the pre-existing images, and layering images using various print techniques. A combination of 2D and 3D art processes expands the traditional print image to create a piece shaped by raw reliance on human hands and intervention, and the distillation of memory.”
