Tide Players Honored By Coaches, SEC

Following Alabama's 34-20 comeback win over Tennessee, the SEC honored a pair of Alabama players and the UA coaching staff named those two and six others as Bama's Players of the Week after grading tape.

The SEC honorees

Linebacker Jihaad Campbell and kicker Will Reichard each earned weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference, the league announced Monday. Campbell was selected as the Co-Defensive Player of the Week while Reichard was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

The weekly conference honor is the first for Campbell and second for Reichard this year. They are also the Tide’s eighth and ninth overall this season.

Campbell played a key role in shutting out the Vols after halftime while limiting UT to just 129 second-half yards by picking up a Joe Milton fumble and racing 24 yards for a touchdown to give UA a two-score lead late. He also posted 10 tackles, including one for loss (-4 yards).

Reichard scored 10 points, connected on field goals of 42 and 50 yards while adding three PATs, and kicked off seven times with five touchbacks and an average of 64.4 yards per boot.

Bama Coaches Players of the Week

In addition to Campbell and Reichard, the Alabama named the following as Players of the Week for the win:

OFFENSE

Jase McClellan ran the rock a career-high 27 times for 115 yards and a touchdown and had a long rush of 29. He converted five first downs while averaging 4.3 yards per tote.

Jaeden Roberts made his third straight start at right guard, and opened holes for 122 rushing yards and 225 total yards of offense in the second half as the Tide stormed back for the win after trailing 20-7 athalftime. Roberts did not allow a sack, quarterback pressure or a quarterback hit,

DEFENSE

Chris Braswell made four tackles, including two sacks (-16 yards). He forced a key fumble with a sack late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Tide. Braswell also contributed one quarterback hurry.

Justin Eboigbe finished with a career-high eight tackles, including 1.5 for loss (-1 yard).

Deontae Lawson led the Tide defense with 12 total tackles, broke up one pass and pressured to Vols’ quarterback once.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Jam Miller made a big stop on punt coverage late in the fourth quarter to give the Vols unfavorable field position.
