TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Nate Oats and the Alabama men's basketball team cruised to a season-opening 96-74 win over the Sam Houston Bearkats on Tuesday night, with four players scoring double digits for the Crimson Tide.
- London Jemison: 15 points
- Drew Fielder: 15 points
- Tarris Bouie: 13 points
- Amari Allen: 12 points

The Crimson Tide's bench played a large role in the Tide's win, with 36 points coming outside of the starting five, led by Bouie's 13. Mississippi State transfer Jamarion Davis-Fleming also had eight points, going 3-for-3 from the floor and 100% from the free-throw line.
Alabama's offense left much to be desired in the win, a staggering sentence when the Tide scored 96 points, with 56 in the second half. Alabama was without star point guard Aden Holloway, who will also miss Friday's game against Arkansas State. NC State transfer Cole Cloer was also on a minutes restriction after missing the exhibition game against Auburn with a lower-body injury, and Alabama's only other point guard on the roster besides Holloway, Anderson Diaz, was also on a minutes restriction.
Despite the clunky first-half offense (something Alabama sports fans have become all too familiar with), the Crimson Tide cruised to victory over the Bearkats, improving to 1-0 on the young season.
