Oats expressed frustration in the press conference that the offense did not play with "good ball movement" tonight against the Cowboys, as the Tide had 15 turnovers and couldn't get anything going in the middle of the second half when McNeese State rallied from a 21-point deficit.

When asked what he thought the cause for the second-half troubles was, Oats stated, "We lost the blue-collar battle there, and we lost the next one, and then we lost the last one." Oats went on to remark that he was "disappointed" with the Tide's Blue Collar play, noting, "We lost the last four (4-minute) wars and the game as well." We went up 21 and then had a letdown on some of the effort stuff," with the Tide failing to score a point during this dismal four minutes in the second half, reducing Alabama's 21-point lead to 6.

Despite the loss, Oats sees big possibilities for this club, saying "Our upside is high," but he also realized that if his team loses that blue-collar attitude, "we're not that special," stated Nate Oats when speaking about playing without a "competitive edge."

Oats went on to discuss the next seven-game slate, which features the Tide facing five top 25 teams, four of whom are in the top 15. When asked about this, Oats expressed excitement to see where his team ranks among the best in the country.
