Miller discussed Alabama’s freshman running back, Kevin Riley, who graduated from Tuscaloosa County Academy. Riley made a significant impact in both the running and passing game during Saturday’s victory, finishing the night with 30 rushing yards and 37 receiving yards on two receptions.

“I actually made him (Riley) sit next to me during meetings just to help him out and just prepare him for what’s coming.” Miller added, “I’ll just say I feel like a proud father.”

Miller had a solid performance in his first game of the season, leading the team in rushing with 46 yards. He also made three receptions for 19 receiving yards, including a crucial third-down conversion that sealed the game. Miller mentioned that this particular play is one they practice frequently.

Miller said, “We do it during practice each and every day. It’s all about preparation, and once that play got called, there’s probably a chance that the ball will get thrown to me or not, but once it did, you know, just go out there and make a play.”

The senior running back was asked about the mental challenge of returning to the rotation for his first game against an undefeated Georgia team in Athens. He responded by emphasizing his focus on preparation and cognitive engagement with the team.

“It’s all about preparation. Even though I was injured, I still followed the game plan and continued watching film. Not only that, but like for the first, second, and third game,” Miller said. “Just getting myself in that zone to be able to do what’s best.”

Miller was asked about his thoughts on the team’s response since dropping the season opener to Florida State, in which he responded, “It’s all about trust. Of course, everybody knows what happened in that first game. You just got to keep moving forward and keep getting better each and every day.”

Alabama’s standout running back shared the message that Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb conveyed to him before the game. Miller recounted Grubb's words: “Just go out there and be great. It’s your first game back going against Georgia, so just do what you do best.”

During the conclusion of his media interview, Miller was asked how the team would maintain their edge for the rest of the season. He shared a message that is frequently communicated throughout the team.

“What we always say is just remember the fire, you know, just remember the burn from the first game.” Miller added, “Just having a chip on our shoulders will keep us going.”

Jam Miller and the Crimson Tide will look to extend their winning streak as they seek to avenge last season's loss to Vanderbilt. The Tide will host the Commodores this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
