“I just did my job,” Bray Hubbard Won’t Ride Waves of Big Games
Not many people have had as good a day as Alabama safety Bray Hubbard did on Saturday, September 13th, against the Wisconsin Badgers. The high school quarterback turned three-star safety lived up to the preseason expectations, catching two interceptions and being named SEC Defensive Player of the Week. However, we're only less than three weeks removed from when nobody in America had as bad a day as he did, taking heat in every direction after a lackluster effort in Tallahassee, Florida, during the Tide's 31-17 loss to Florida State,

Since that day, a switch has flipped, and you can tell. During Thursday's player media availability, Hubbard remained consistent with his answers: do your job, no outside noise, and getting better every day. He's also looking to stay consistent with his play as well and was not a fan of having to take a Saturday off, "It's kind of weird; I just like playing football. I'm used to playing a game every Saturday, but you've got to do what you got to do."

But now, the junior defensive back has a lot bigger fish to fry than Wisconsin. It will take all hands on deck to defeat Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Although many wonder why that is, considering Smart is a mere 1-6 against the Crimson Tide. For those that don't already know, Sanford Stadium is one of, if not the hardest, places to play in the sport. Just check their record: Georgia is the only school in the country that has not lost a home game this decade, and you can believe they don't intend to let that streak end without a fight.
Bray Hubbard, however, doesn't seem the least bit intimidated. Instead, he seemed motivated, hungry, but most importantly, unsatisfied. When asked what he did in order to be able to intercept two passes against Wisconsin, he kept it simple: his job. "If you do your job, plays come to you. It wasn't like I did anything crazy, I mean, you can watch the film. That's just what it comes down to, doing your 1/11th and doing it to the best of your ability."
If Hubbard and this defense put eleven 1/11th's out on the field in Athens, the Crimson Tide have as good a chance as anyone to topple the final unbeaten home team of the 2020s.
