Ex-Alabama Stars Score Nearly Ten Figures in Off-Season Deals
The Alabama Crimson Tide football program continues to demonstrate excellence not only at the collegiate level but also at the highest professional rank in the sport.
Former Alabama players who signed new contracts inked deals totaling $915 million this off-season. If you factor in Alabama's rookies in the league, the total ekes over a billion dollars.
Wide receiver Calvin Ridley, safety Xavier McKinney, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa were among the top earners this off-season among Alabama alumni in the NFL who signed new contracts.
New Tennessee Titan wideout Calvin Ridley inked a four-year, $92 million deal in March 2024 following a 1,000-yard season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while former Alabama defensive Xavier Mckinney left the Big Apple to sign a four-year, $68 million deal with the Green Bay Packers. Mckinney is also teaming up with former Alabama teammate Josh Jacobs, who signed a free-agent contract with the Packers this off-season.
Leading the headlines is Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. After a summer of negotiations, the former Heisman finalist inked a four-year $212.4 million deal to remain in South Beach for the foreseeable future.
In a college football landscape where many high school recruits are focusing on the money they can receive now rather than later, this can serve as a wake-up call to highlight the amount of money available down the line if a player commits to a program like Alabama who has shown a consistent ability to pump successful players into the NFL.
